Health and wellness are certainly important to any person planning to live beyond the next few minutes. We all have a pretty good grasp of what "health" must be - The absence of disease and disability. Right?

Well, what is wellness? For our discussion, we'll say that wellness is the state of the human body in balance that rarely exists today. At least that is my experience and observation.

Is your environment as healthful for you as it can be? Do you drink clean, conditioned, water regularly? Do obtain the rest and recovery your body needs each and every night? Do you get the exercise you need on a regular basis? Do you breathe clean air? How is your nutrition? Are you eating right?

Do you face financial challenges or just want to drill a "second financial well?" Wait! What do I mean by that? Well, down in South Texas, where I grew up, the farmers and ranchers were always looking for sources of water. Where ever possible, I am told, they drill at least a second water well to provide for their farm and livestock. They knew any one well could dry up and strand them with horrendous liabilities of thirsty plants and animals. The same concept applies to your finances! How many income streams you have? Maybe you're doing OK in your present career and industry. I know I was! Then my health started declining. Then a new supervisor took over. He figured his young engineers could do all the work I, the only technician in the department, had been doing for the last 18-20 years. Can you figure out where that idea went? I was able to "retire" just before the next layoff.

Oh yes! We had two incomes. It all seemed just fine until we realized we could not maintain half of our lifestyle on just one income. After twenty years with the company, my pension did not amount to half of that mythical "pile of beans." Yes, I should have made better choices 'way back when I had the chance. I should have drilled that second financial well while I had the ability to do it part time and at my leisure.
